What is its mission statement or vision?

In light of the diminishing budget of the University of the Philippines and the increasing demands to make media education more responsive to the needs of our country, the College of Mass Communication remains steadfast in its mission to pursue academic excellence in communications and media studies.

In a society where some media practitioners have been faulted for lack of research or fostering escapism, the College stays committed to the task of providing quality education that emphasizes the values of media that are critical, independent, and liberative, not only among the students of the University but also among the various segments and institutions in the country.

The college thus aims to promote alternative media to counter commercialized and escapist media programs. It seeks to propagate media literacy among different sectors of society. It also strives to create analytical works on media that would shed light on and provide better understanding of the state of media in the country.
