I.          Profile

In January 2001, the CMC faculty committed itself to the vision of a society that is egalitarian, participative and progressive through the development of media that is “socially responsible, critical and vigilant; liberative and transformative; and free and independent.” To attain this vision, the College identified as one of its missions the “pursuit of excellence in transformative media studies and cultural works” and “the generation of relevant knowledge.”

CMC has identified courses of action which include: a) the adoption of a critical research agenda that addresses communication and media issues; b) the production of departmental and college publications of national and international merit; and c) the sponsoring of lectures, fora, symposia, and workshops on media and communication issues within and outside the academe.

Within this perspective and in the spirit of the reorganization of the former Office of Research and Extension and Publications (OERP) approved by the CMC faculty assembly in September 2003, the Office of Research and Publication was established.
