The College library has an extensive, up-to-date collection of books and periodicals on communication, media, and related disciplines. The collection is particularly strong in the areas of broadcasting, film, journalism, communication research, advertising, telecommunications, desktop publishing, popular culture, gender studies, critical theory, and critical studies. Other types of materials in the collection are newspaper clippings, vertical files, student theses, faculty researches, videotapes of foreign and Tagalog films, student video productions, audiocassette tapes and compact discs for music and sound effects. The College library opened its doors for service on Nov. 3, 1969. Its initial collection consisted of 1,542 volumes of books and 39 titles of periodicals donated by or transferred from the U.P. Main Library . Since then the college library has grown to 25,000 volumes excluding those titles donated by faculty members and other library patrons. Periodical collection have virtually increased 2,350 times to the present almost 1,000 titles. The library has acquired the collections of former Dean Gloria Feliciano, Armando Malay, and I.P. Soliongco. |
